Cameron Economic Development Corporation Launches 2026 Façade Grant Program to Enhance Local Businesses

The Cameron Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), in partnership with the Cameron Industrial Foundation (CIF), is pleased to announce the launch of the FY2025–2026 Business & Commercial Zones Façade Grant Program, an initiative designed to support business and property owners in improving the appearance and vitality of commercial properties throughout Cameron.

This program provides financial incentives for exterior building improvements that enhance the city’s visual appeal, strengthen existing businesses, and encourage new investment. By focusing on the revitalization of commercial corridors and business districts, the program continues to advance Cameron’s commitment to economic growth and community development.

The Façade Grant aims to:

  • Improve the overall aesthetics of Cameron’s commercial areas

  • Support the growth and sustainability of existing businesses

  • Encourage reinvestment in existing structures

  • Attract new businesses and services to the community

Eligible improvements include upgrades such as signage, lighting, awnings, windows, building fronts, entrances, and other exterior enhancements that contribute to a cohesive and attractive streetscape.

Flexible Funding to Maximize Impact

A key feature of the 2026 program is its flexible funding structure. While applicants are typically responsible for a portion of project costs, matching grant ratios may be adjusted based on project impact and financial need. High-impact projects—especially those located along key corridors or gateways—may qualify for enhanced funding of up to a 2:1 match.

Additionally:

  • Applicants demonstrating financial hardship may qualify for reduced match requirements

  • Exceptional projects scoring highly in program evaluation may receive significantly increased support

  • Collaborative projects involving neighboring properties may be eligible for bonus funding or enhanced match ratios

This flexible approach ensures that impactful projects can move forward regardless of an applicant’s financial capacity, helping maximize community-wide benefits.

Program Highlights

  • Grants are available for properties located within Cameron’s Business and Commercial Zones

  • Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to high-impact and historically sensitive projects

  • Grants do not require repayment

  • Projects must begin within 60 days of approval and be completed within the program timeline

  • Funds are disbursed upon project completion and inspection

Application Process

Interested applicants are encouraged to begin by meeting with the Cameron Industrial Foundation Executive Director to discuss project ideas and eligibility. A complete application includes project descriptions, cost estimates, photographs, and supporting documentation.

Applications are reviewed by a committee and the CEDC, with final approval based on project quality, community impact, and alignment with program goals.

Investing in Cameron’s Future

The Façade Grant Program reflects Cameron’s broader strategy to strengthen its economic base while preserving the character and charm that define the community. By investing in the appearance and functionality of commercial properties, the program helps create a more inviting environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
