With a variety of food, shopping, music, and fun, downtown Cameron is the spot to enjoy a fun-filled day or evening on the town. Cameron’s rich history comes alive with a collection of murals, advertising artifacts, and historic buildings. 

The district is anchored by two historic landmarks, the Milam County Courthouse and Cameron City Hall-McLane Municipal Center. Both buildings were renovated in the early 2000s, with the 1892 Renaissance Revival-style courthouse restored with original architectural details and tower.

Celebrating the Arts

From the Milam Community Theater to the Cameron ISD Performing Arts Center, the arts are alive in Cameron. The venues host a variety of shows throughout the year, including theatrical and musical performances. 

 As the former county jail and home of the sheriff, the Milam County Museum offers a step back in history. The museum features original furnishings, period relics, and artifacts. 

Family Fun Outdoors

Cameron has six city parks, with amenities ranging from pavilions, playgrounds, and ballcourts to activities such as hiking, biking, and swimming. Cameron Pool park is a popular spot for families and features a pool with separate children’s splash pad, which are connected to the city’s trail system, along with a basketball court, horseshoes and washers, and a sand volleyball court. The Airport Park Complex, Wilson-Ledbetter Park and The Yards of Cameron are available outdoor areas in Cameron to explore.
