The City of Cameron is submitting an application to the Federal Transportation Administration's RAISE grant for a railroad quiet zone. The most important aspect of the quiet zone is the enhanced safety measures added to each crossing. The safety measures are in addition to crossing arms. Measures include raised medians and road edge curbing to channelize traffic to ensure traffic stops at crossing arms when they are activated by railroad activity.
