Three Grand Central Texas Companies

 Receive Skills Development Fund Grant

 

Temple Bottling Company, LTD, Reynolds Consumer Products, LLC and The Butler Weldments Corporation has partnered with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to provide job training

 

Temple, TX-Temple Bottling Company, LTD, Reynolds Consumer Products, LLC and The Butler Weldments Corporation has partnered with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to provide job training using a $293,211 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the Central Texas Region and a check signing event for the grant will take place August 10 at Temple Economic Development Corporation.

“Skills grants deliver customized training solutions that help our employers and workers succeed in the marketplace,” said Temple EDC, Vice President Charley Ayres. “This investment builds not only employee skills, but the capabilities of our technical college to benefit employers and the community. We are pleased to see these investment and partnerships created in Grand Central Texas.”

This grant will be used to provide customized training to 130 employees, 35 new and 95 upgraded jobs. Participating trainees will come from backgrounds in production, maintenance, mechanical and support occupations. The training program will consist of 5,368 customized hours of industrial training program provided by TSTC instructors at the company’s facilities. All trainees will receive 77% business technical training, 13% general technical training and 10% non-technical training.

Since its inception in 1996, the Skills Development Fund grants have created or upgraded more than 342,428 jobs throughout Texas. The grants have assisted 4,238 employers with their customized training needs. The Legislature allocated $48.5 million to the Skills Development Fund for the 2016-17 biennium.
