Cameron City Council Hires New Police Chief

The Cameron City Council has voted unanimously to hire a veteran law enforcement officer who has practiced law for the past 14 years in Central Texas as the city’s next police chief.

Lonnie Gosch was sworn into office at the meeting October 24th and started the job on October 25th.

He started his law enforcement career in 1993 as a police officer in Hearne where he worked his way up the ranks to become a lieutenant.

From 1995 to 2006 he was a sheriff’s deputy in Milam County, but during the same period he worked on a law degree.

He has practiced general law in Milam and Robertson Counties since 2003.

“Gosch has worked on both sides of the Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement systems making him very valuable to the Cameron Police Department” City Manager Rhett Parker said.

“He will bring experience from several angles that will only enhance the police officers training, investigations, court preparation and community policing".
